Green Thumb

We took advantage of one of the nice days we had recently and spent a few hours out in the yard, raking leaves out of the flower beds and just generally tidying things up. Dylan bundled Mabel up and brought her out in her stroller, where she presided over the goings-on. Every so often we would wheel her to a different location in the yard, so she would have a new vantage point and not get bored. This seemed to work for a while, so we have decided she likes to garden, just like her mom and her grandma Sandy.

Mabel Hearts You

Today is Mabel's first Valentine's Day. We started the day by opening cards - Mabel gave one to Dad, Dylan and I gave each other cards, and Mabel got her very first valentine - from Grandma Sandy and Grandpa Tom. She was very excited to open it, especially because she loves paper. She played with the card a good 10 minutes before we opened it for her, and then she sucked on it for a few minutes more. And she pronounced it delicious.

Don't Bother Me, I'm Working

Mabel l-o-v-e-s to play with paper these days. She hung out with Dylan while he was working a few days ago and he gave her some (ahem) very important papers to deal with. As you can see she took her responsibility quite seriously. And also, sometimes paper needs to be tasted, just to make sure it's safe for everyone else.

And Now, a Word From Our Sponsor

I know this is a blog about Mabel and her adventures, but Walnut wants to say something. Here she is. You have to listen very closely, but here's the gist: Why doesn't someone pay attention to ME once in a while? Is that too much to ask?

And, of course, an obligatory Mabel pic. Someone is getting very good at sitting up all by themselves.

Happy Birthday, Grandma Sandy!

Today is Grandma Sandy's birthday. We called her earlier to say hi and hear how her day was. Grandpa Tom was at work, so they're going to go out for dinner tomorrow to celebrate. After we got off the phone we took these very festive pictures to mark the occasion.

8 Months Ago Today

Today is Mabel's 8-month birthday. Holy cow. It's really true what they say - the time goes too fast. As I write this I can hear her downstairs in her Johnny jump-up, talking to herself - blah dee blah boo bee bah dee - and I have no doubt she is telling herself quite the little story. Her personality is just bursting through the seams everyday and it is such fun to watch.
